Danielle Dube Qualifies for London Olympic Games
Congratulations to Danielle Dube from Glen Haven for qualifying to represent Canada at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Danielle's qualification was front page news in the Chronicle Herald. Several other NS sailors had excellent results in Miami last week including Paul Tingley finishing 2nd in the 2.4mR class.
Paul's 2nd place finish came only 2 weeks after he finished 3rd at the IFDS World Championships in Port Charlotte, Florida.

Will Apold & SMSC to be Honoured by CYA
The CYA will be holding its annual awards banquet on Saturday, February 4 in Toronto and there will be 2 Nova Scotia recipients amongst those being honoured.
Will Apold will be recognized with the Gerry Roufs Offshore Sailor of the Year award for his victory in the 2011 Marblehead Ocean Race. St. Margaret Sailing Club be recognized with the Chisholm Trophy for Excellence in Race Management for the 2011 National Sailing Championships they hosted in September.

Meetings for Commodores and LTS Directors Set
Given everyone loves attending the Boat Show, we will once again be holding meetings at the Show and provide attendees with a free boat show pass.
A Commodores meeting will be held Saturday, February 25 from 1-3pm while a Learn to Sail Directors meeting will be held Saturday, February 25 from 3-4:30pm.
Both meetings will be held in the Board Room which is on the left once you enter the Show.
Please RSVP no later than February 16 so we can mail out your pass. 


Instructor Clinic Schedule to be Posted Soon
NSYA will once again be holding CYA Instructor Clinics this Spring.
We are in the final stages of confirming location and dates and hope to have the info posted and sent to LTS Directors no later than February 15.

CYA CANSail Symposium Set for February 18-19 in Halifax
The CYA will be delivering a CAN Sail Symposium to all those senior NS instructors and LTS Directors interested in learning about the new CAN Sail program. The session will be held the weekend of February 18-19 at the Saraguay House of the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron in Halifax. Full details here.

Wanted: Boat Show Volunteers
The annual Halifax Boat Show takes place February 23-26th this year at Exhibition Park. The NSYA will have a booth and is looking for volunteers to help staff it over the 4 day Show.
If you have some free time, send the NSYA office an e-mail with preferred dates and times (2 hour blocks) and we'll put you on the schedule. 

Cape Breton Sailing Summit Set for April 14
The NSYA is pleased to announce that in conjunction with NS Health & Wellness and Sport Nova Scotia we will hosting the first ever Cape Breton Sailing Summit, bringing together those interested in growing the sport in the region on Saturday, April 14 at the Bras d'Or Yacht Club in Baddeck.
